Send with Postmark from Emerge
Postmark is known for fast, reliable delivery and keeps transactional and bulk mail on separate message streams. Emerge respects that: site and API email go on your transactional stream, campaigns and automations on your Broadcasts stream.
Why use Postmark with Emerge
- Password resets and receipts that must arrive in seconds
- Keeping marketing reputation apart from transactional
- Teams that want clear delivery data
- Your domain and reputation stay yours — Emerge adds contacts, templates, campaigns, automations, tracking and bounce handling on top
1. Get your Postmark credentials
- 1
Copy a Server API token
In Postmark open Servers → your server → API Tokens and copy a Server API token. (Account tokens won't work — Emerge needs a server's.)
- 2
Create a Broadcasts stream
Open the server → Message Streams → Create message stream → Broadcasts. Its ID (usually broadcast) is where Emerge sends campaigns. Postmark doesn't allow marketing mail on a transactional stream.
2. Authenticate your sending domain
SPF, DKIM and DMARC are what let inboxes trust your mail — without them it’s far more likely to land in spam.
- 1
Verify your domain
Open Sender Signatures → Add Domain or Signature → Domain, and add the DKIM TXT record and Return-Path CNAME Postmark shows.
- 2
Get your account approved
New Postmark accounts can only send to their own domain until Postmark reviews them — request approval before sending to contacts.
3. Connect Postmark in Emerge
In Emerge, open Senders, click the provider's button and fill in the form. Emerge checks the credentials with the provider before saving anything, and stores them encrypted.
- Server API token
- Servers → your server → API Tokens.
- Broadcasts stream ID
- The stream for campaigns and automations — broadcast by default. Leave it empty to use the transactional stream for everything.
- From email
- On a verified domain or sender signature.
Then send yourself a test email from the sender’s row. You can add more senders to the same pool — Emerge rotates between them and moves on if one fails or hits its limit.
4. Report bounces and complaints back
In Postmark open your server → the stream → Webhooks → Add webhook, paste the URL from Emerge's Senders page → Bounce reporting → Postmark, and tick Bounce and Spam Complaint.
Add the same URL on both your transactional and Broadcasts streams.
Once bounces come back, Emerge stops sending to those addresses, and pauses a campaign whose bounce or complaint rate gets too high.
Good to know
- Postmark deactivates addresses that hard-bounce or complain; Emerge treats a send to one as a bounce and stops mailing it.
- Emerge checks the Broadcasts stream exists when you connect.
