Send with SendGrid from Emerge

Twilio SendGrid is one of the most widely used email APIs. If you already send through SendGrid, connect it to Emerge and keep your domain authentication, IPs and reputation while Emerge handles contacts, campaigns and automations.

Why use SendGrid with Emerge

  • Teams already sending through SendGrid
  • Dedicated IPs and established sending reputation
  • Mixing transactional and marketing mail on one account
  • Your domain and reputation stay yours — Emerge adds contacts, templates, campaigns, automations, tracking and bounce handling on top

1. Get your SendGrid credentials

  1. 1

    Create an API key

In SendGrid open Settings → API Keys → Create API Key. Choose Restricted Access and give Mail Send full access — that's all Emerge needs.

  2. 2

    Copy it

SendGrid shows the key once. Paste it into Emerge straight away.

2. Authenticate your sending domain

SPF, DKIM and DMARC are what let inboxes trust your mail — without them it’s far more likely to land in spam.

  1. 1

    Authenticate your domain

Open Settings → Sender Authentication → Authenticate Your Domain and add the CNAME records SendGrid gives you. Authenticate the whole domain, not just a single sender address — that's what sets up SPF and DKIM.

3. Connect SendGrid in Emerge

In Emerge, open Senders, click the provider's button and fill in the form. Emerge checks the credentials with the provider before saving anything, and stores them encrypted.

From email
An address on your authenticated domain or a verified single sender.

Then send yourself a test email from the sender’s row. You can add more senders to the same pool — Emerge rotates between them and moves on if one fails or hits its limit.

4. Report bounces and complaints back

In SendGrid open Settings → Mail Settings → Event Webhook, paste the URL from Emerge's Senders page → Bounce reporting → SendGrid as the HTTP Post URL, and select Bounced, Dropped and Spam Reports.

Once bounces come back, Emerge stops sending to those addresses, and pauses a campaign whose bounce or complaint rate gets too high.

Good to know

  • SendGrid's own click and open tracking can stay off — Emerge tracks opens and clicks itself.
  • Your SendGrid plan's sending limits still apply.
